Jane Fonda in Barbarella
Martha & Dino De Laurentiis,
The much anticipated, but much thwarted, remake of the 60′s space romper, Barbarella, is nearing becoming a reality now that Joe Gazzam is on board as writer, Robert Luketic attached as director, with the movie’s original producer Dino De Laurentiis along with his wife, Martha De Laurentiis, sharing producer credits on the update.

Back in May 2007, Robert Rodriguez had the project at Universal Studios as a vehicle for Rose McGowan. Writers Neal Purvis and Robert Wade had a script, but the director and studio couldn’t reach an agreement over where to shoot.

This proposed new take will rely heavily on adventure and action with emphasis on sexuality and seduction, and less on the campiness of the 1968 original. At this time, the project is without a studio, but once the script, overseen by Lorenzo De Maio, is up to par, the producers will shop it around town.

I remember the original, was a fun film. Don’t know about remaking it though. Usually they mess up when updating films.
