The film edited from 100 hours of Michael Jackson rehearsal time in preparation for his then upcoming London series of concerts, “This Is It”, will play in theaters for a limited 2-week run only. Also, the opening date has been moved up to October 28, two days earlier than previously announced. Tickets go on sale September 27.

Kenny Ortega is directing the film that shows behind the scenes glimpses of MJ working with singers, dancers, musicians, choreographers and special-effects experts, all shot during rehearsals in Los Angeles. Sony bought the rights for $60million.

Ortega says of the film:

“For the first time ever, fans will see Michael as they have never seen him before — this great artist at work. It is raw, emotional, moving and powerful footage that captures his interactions with the ‘This Is It’ collaborators that he had personally assembled for this once in a lifetime project.”

Digital Cheeseburger will stick out its neck to remark that should demand for box office tickets far exceed this limited engagement (as more than likely it will) the distributor (Sony) will extend the run. We smell marketing ploy!
