Whitney Houston, 44, singing live at Central Park’s Rumsey Playfield in New York City, held more bum notes than a forger’s billfold. She tried hard to hit her signature highs on Good Morning America, but just struck the lows. Even this one-time prime-time diva had to fess up but blamed it all on Oprah, who’s show she did earlier, claiming talking on it broke her singing voice. Well, whatever, all that matters is she had her chance to reclaim divahood and failed. Failed terribly so. Failed nationally, too, as millions tuned into ABC‘s GMA to witness her comeback performance.A performance that probably wouldn’t have got her past stage one in American Idol auditions. Digital Cheeseburger heard her sing live more than a decade ago, and was disappointed even back then, so considered her more a studio artist than stage act. The heavily engineered Whitney is preferable to a lightly-filtered Whitney anytime! However, to her hardcore die-hard fans she’ll never be able to do any wrong, and those are the ones that will prop up her return to the spotlight.
