NFL‘s Denver Broncos‘ rookie tight end Richard Quinn is being detained overnight in Arapahoe County Jail, Colorado, following his arrest on arrested on obstruction of telephone service harassment and domestic violence charges. He will appear before a judge at 8:30 a.m. today.
At 12:34 p.m. Monday, Arapahoe County deputies responded to a “verbal disturbance that had been physical” between Tiffany Merritt and Quinn, whom Merritt described as her live-in boyfriend. She told deputies Quinn “grabbed her and shook her to the ground” before taking her cellphone to prevent her calling police. She ran to a neighbor’s house to call 911. Quinn admitted taking the phone, but claims he grabbed her only after she “started hitting him in the face.” The police report states there were no visible facial injuries to his face. Quinn’s attorney and agent, Peter Schaffer, said:
“When all the facts come out, people will find out Richard’s done nothing wrong. Richard’s number one concern right now is the welfare of his daughter, and to avoid any negative light brought to the Denver Broncos, Richard and his family.”
