Flagship soap opera, the CBS 72-years run daytime drama “Guiding Light” ended today.
Loglined as: “The fictional Midwest town of Springfield provides the backdrop for this continuing rich tale. The Bauer, Spaulding, Lewis, Cooper and Santos families form the backbone of the community as Springfield’s residents face life and love amid the greatest of challenges.” This series began its life on radio in 1937, before switching to television in 1952. In 2009 it fell victim to ratings, garnering an average of only 2.1 million viewers, the lowest rated show of all the network soaps. Game show “Let’s Make A Deal” will fill the vacant slot.
