Prior to her drug overdose death in 2007, Playboy Playmate Anna Nicole Smith was investigated by the FBI in 2000-01 in a murder-for-hire plot against Everett Pierce Marshall, the son of Smith’s multi-millionaire oil tycoon husband James Howard Marshall II, whom she married when he was 89 years-old and she 26. The son, until his own death in 2006, had tried to block his stepmother from inheriting his father’s fortune after he died in 1995, aged 90 years.

The FBI confiscated a .357 Smith and Wesson revolver, a 3 1/2-inch stainless-steel knife, and for reasons not explained a tall black and orange hat documented as “Dr. Seuss.” When questioned by federal agents, the report maintains that Smith broke down and cried while protesting her innocence. Ultimately, prosecutors determined there was insufficient evidence to proceed against her.

Meantime the case against those who supplied Smith with drugs that led to her death is ongoing.
