Mr. Magic, real name John Rivas, who was DJ on the first rap radio show, “Rap Attack,” on a major broadcast from New York City’s WBLS-FM station in 1982, has died from a heart attack on October 2, 2009, aged 53 years. Mr. Magic was separated from his wife, Lisa Rivas, and is also survived by sons John Jr. and Jabar, and by his daughter, Domonique Rivas.
